Week 2:
This week the art students learned about the earliest known art made by humans: the cave paintings found in southern France and Spain. We discussed their application to Genesis and how they help affirm God's Word.

Check www.goodsearch.com (enter Calvary Classical School!) and do a search on "cave paintings." Also, look for images and excellent commentaries with a Christian perspective at www.answergenesis.org/creation/v26/i2/prehistoric.asp.

Here is a photo of a cave painting in Lascaux, France:

Homework:
1. Draw 6 to 8 symbols of images that would represent you as a Christian art student at CCS. Draw them in the style of the cave paintings. This is to be done in the sketchbooks. Fifth and sixth grade students will convert these to "lithographs".

2. Find a new heart-shaped rock, and draw it in your sketchbook again! Bring the new rock and the sketchbook to class next week. For the students who forgot their rocks last week, please be sure to bring last week's in also. We will need these for a future class project.

3. Seventh and eighth grade students will review the take-home letter for parents regarding their 9/11 assignment.

In Christ,
Mrs. Gray
